Numbers and Percentages

The Rest of the World

Numbers

Naiviety is somewhat understandable
Ignorance isn't
Stupidity is stupid
Pure bias is totally unacceptable

Populations
for example

California - 39.5 (ish) million.                                                             England - 60 (ish) million
GB (the country) - 66.5 (ish) million

Size
Square Miles
for example

California - 424,000 (ish).                                                                       England - 130,00(ish)

Drive time
for example

L.A. to New York.                                                                                   Where I live to London
42 hours (ish)                                                                                                        2 hours (ish)

Distance
for example

L.A. to New York.                                                                                   Where I live to London
2,900 miles (ish)                                                                                                 107 miles (ish)

Naive
Ignorance
When it comes right down to it., we live in the real world., with actual people, strangers who have names., families., who are not a percentage., or a number., but live in an actual geographical location, obviously different in different parts of the world., that throw up different logistical challenges., different demographics
Differences
for example
Road systems that are different, commutes that are different., working conditions that are different and the way we go about our lives are differently., climates that are different and cultural lifestyles that are so instinctively, so inherently different. Homes and communities that are designed and built completely differently
Political bias is dangerous
US distances, US sizes are so different to European distances and sizes and that so obviously can't be related, shouldn't be related or even considered to be generalised by numbers. "I am not a number., I am a free man"., an individual

Safe distancing and alienation
Naivety
A news coverage of a 'thing' across the world is hardly the same issue when you're actually 'in it' and upto your neck 'in it'

Median Ages
for example
San Deigo 32 (ish) - Bournemouth 40 (ish)

over 60's
for example

of your actual people., people who have names, who might be more susceptible to any contagious and easily transferable 'thing'

San Diego, Ca 13.57 percent (ish) for example
Bournemouth, England 24 percent (ish) for example

The scary thing is a mix of bias,  generic ignorance, stupidity and being unaware
... really is dangerous

Opinion
Schmuck
Who's the best basketball team in the world ., who's the best soccer team in the world.. Who's the best political party - opinion and argument starters
by
People who love confrontation
People who love fights
People who love debates
People who love competition
Empath v non empath
A types
people who can't, who don't see other points of view
Bullies
Control freaks
Labelling People
positive labels
v
negative labels
general categorising

Divisive Minds
Divisive attitudes
schismatic

closed minds
v
open minds
to separate

People who divide
v
People who bring a togetherness

Fences

I know which side of the fence I wanna stand on
the side that wants to learn
the side that wants to contribute to a togetherness
the side that brings together
but
I really don't want sides, I really want a togetherness

Us & Them
Them & Us

I know., 'let's keep us all apart'
real and authentic sarcasm

Numbers
finger pointing
haughty
imperious
peremptory
disconnected
brusque
caustic
sardonic
derisory

Empathy

Yes, I'm maintaining social distancing
observing common sense guidelines
and doing so gladly, albeit with emotional difficulty
and doing so, because I'm not prepared for the consequences
Yes
Staying at home
to me 'feels' like the right (and) common sense thing to do

relate
&
understand
can you try
to

To those who have an outdoor space, to those who aren't alone at home., to those who have conversations while at home., to those able to enjoy sunshine outside., to those who're bbq'ing, sitting in their gardens., to those I ask you to remember those who don't...
if you're getting your laundry done for you, your meals made for you, to those able to sit down and eat with someone,  if you're having your ironing done for you, if you're having someone do your dishes for you, if you're still able to hit a gym, remember, there are other people in
this world who have a different quality of life
In Isolation

recently have you ridden a London Tube

I'm a realist
not
an
opinionist

to/for people who look down their noses at those of us, who merely live differently., who live in a different geographical location, who's lifestyle routine is different and have different responsibilities, those who have a name and don't want to be regarded as a number., a percentage, those of us who have a different daily challenge and those of us who simply want to get along., find solutions and want to contribute, safely
shame on you
